Gang fight in the Subway

Thursday, May 22, 2008 | | 0 comments |

I had just walked off the L train I wasn't paying attention to what was going on because I had my ear phones on suddenly I found my self walking right in-between an argument.  There was about five teenage boys, about two of them had on blue shirts with blue flags and the other three had on red with red bandanas immediately I knew it was a gang clash between the "bloods" and the "crips."

I was walking toward the stairs and this guy walks right in-front of me he said "it ain't nothing it ain't nothing" to the guy he was arguing with then I looked down at his hands and he had a knife so I tried to move away because I didn't what they were about to do.  The other guy took his shirt off and handed it to his friend and he said "so what up then."  The guy with the knife even though he had a weapon I could tell he was scared, so when the train came he walked on the train and his friend followed him. They didn't get to fight and soon after the police came.

She's Going to Jail

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 | | 0 comments |

Yesterday at Broadway Junction as soon as I got off the L train I saw this girl getting arrested in the subway as the police officer was putting the cuffs on her she kept yelling get off of me! get off of me! She was with her friend and people kept staring because they didn't know what was going on. She was getting kind of ruff with the police officer because she didn't want to put on the cuffs, so he was man handling her to get the cuffs on.  After that she started crying.

I was in a hurry, so I just walked pass and took a glance but as I walked toward the escalators at to catch the C train I saw another police officer escorting this guy in cuffs out of the subway, after that I was really curious about what happen. I don't know what they did but it was a big scene and I was left wondering what the hell happened?

Fake Bum

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 | | 0 comments |

I was on the J train and one of the usually beggars came on the train he was a real character because he would put up an act to get money from people.  He was kind of a heavy set guy real tall, with muscles he would come on the train with the most dirties torn up clothes and he would put on shoes that his feet were bursting out of, his hair is always in an Afro full of  lint. When he begs he would yell real loud and act like he had some sort of mental retardation most of the time he came on the train people get scared, everybody would move away from him because he looked like he could seriously hurt somebody.

On day as I was entering the train station I saw him, he was smoking a cigarette with this guy I thought to my self what a sorry excuse for a human being. From his everyday act you wouldn't even know he could speak proper English and here he was talking to this guy asking him for a cigarette.  Nothing was wrong with him he was just another lazy crock trying who didn't like to work so he made up a scam to get money from unsuspecting people who felt sorry for him.

Batteries Batteries

Wednesday, May 7, 2008 | | 3 comments |

There is this woman on the J line she sells batteries for a living I don't think she knows English very well because all I've ever heard her say is "batteries batteries." She comes onto the train everyday with her backpack full of batteries dragging it behind her from cart to cart. It looks like she has been doing it for years. I've noticed a few times that if anybody doesn't buy her batteries she would start cursing in creole.  She looks grumpy most of the time, most people think she is crazy because of the way she dresses it looks like she just puts on some random clothes with lots of layers.  Sometimes I wonder how much money can she really make by selling batteries on the train probably not a lot but she's there everyday riding the train to the last stop at Parsons boulevard and then getting on the next Manhattan bound train. Some of you that take the J train has probably seen her it wouldn't be a regular train ride in NYC without the colorful people you ride with.

What kind of characters do you see while commuting on the NYC subway?

Closing Doors

Sunday, April 13, 2008 | | 2 comments |

I'm on the C train its around 8 O' Clock its rush hour everybody is either trying to get to work or school. The train is packed with people shoulder to shoulder, as the train stops at Nostrand Avenue more people got on, its so crowded that this Spanish woman she tries to force herself on the train this woman tells her she can't fit use the next door but the doors were closing. She pushes the door open and tries to squeeze her way in but there is no room left the door starts to close again the woman yells at her she says "I'm not moving use the other door!" she continues to hold the door the other woman gets so pissed off she grabs her hand shoves it away the woman didn't do anything she kept pushing until she got on the train.

When I saw that the woman pushed the Spanish lady's hands I thought it would have been a fight but she didn't react the way I thought she would and I think that took a lot not to hit her back.

Get A Room

I don't know about you but when I see people making out on the train I just wanna tell them do you know how nasty you look. I mean tongue all down the throat, grabbing and squeezing each other its like a soap opera. And most of the times its teenagers. I saw this "couple" the girl was braced against the wall while her boyfriend was infront of her and they were going at it. I just looked and laughed because it just shows that more and more teens are becoming sexual active because they think they're in love. And its sad because most of those relationships don't last it just lust and they are too young to know the difference. What do you think ?

Knock Knock

Monday, March 31, 2008 | | 6 comments |

The train stops at Atlantic Avenue the conductor comes out of her booth to make an announcement she says the train will skip all stops and the next stop will be East 105th street. The intercom was broken so she couldn't announce it to all of the other passengers in the rest of the cars.

So the train starts skipping stops this one woman at the back of the train she walks all the way up to the front car to knock on the train conductor's door. She knocks several times. Surprisingly the conductor opens the door the woman starts arguing with her. I'm looking at them like who's watching the train I couldn't believe it. The woman said you just skipped my stop, the conductor said yes the next stop is East 105th street, how I am suppose to know that she said you didn't say anything the conductor replied yes I did but the intercom is broken so you didn't hear it didn't I she asked one of other passengers, he said yes but how are they suppose to know whats going on they're all the way in the back of the train.

So finally the she leaves then then the conductor got back into the booth to watch the controls. What if something would have happened to the train while she was arguing with the passenger we all would have been killed.

I'm the Adult your the Child

Friday, March 28, 2008 | | 2 comments |

This kid on the train he's listening to his ipod singing real loud and obnoxious just annoying everyone on the train. He was trying to sing a rap song so he starts bopping his head, swaying his body back and forth acting like he was at home in his own personal space.

So this man gets tired of him so he walks over to him he said what the F@$% is wrong with you. I gotta come out my seat to come over hear because you acting like damn fool. I paid for my ride just like everybody else and I don't wanna hear that sh*t and I'm sure nobody else wanna hear it either, they ain't gonna say nothing but I am. So the kid is like well I'm a kid and you're an adult mister you can't talk to me like that. He said yeah I'm an adult and I can say anything I want, I didn't tell you shut the f@#% up did I the kid said but you just did. Everybody starts laughing.

I tried not to laugh but it was too funny. So the kid he starts talking crap to the man and his friend sitting next to him she kept telling him alright alright just shut up don't say nothing. The man continues to talk he said you know what you acting like a nigger an ignorant person, you just trying to get attention and you need to grow up. Because the kid is with his friend he starts acting cool like he didn't care what the man was saying so he continues bopping his head and swaying back and forth mad hard.

When the man reached his stop the kid got out of his seat, waited untill the door closed then he knocked on the door as the train pulled off and pointed his middle finger to the man.

Late Again

Tuesday, March 25, 2008 | | 2 comments |

The damn trains late again. It seems like every other day the L train line is doing some kind of reconstruction or what not. Sometimes it gets really frustrating waiting for the train to arrive then when it does it moves extra slow then I start to feel like I'm moving in slow motion. I want to start cursing at the damn conductor but I don't want to be escorted off the train by New York City's finest.

Doesn't it piss you off when you know you're going to be late and the train makes you extra late. Or maybe its just New York city where everything is fast and people are always on the go, we expect everything to be fast pace, so we demand the train to be the same way.

Weird Stranger On the Train

Wednesday, March 12, 2008 | | 4 comments |

On my regular commute home, I stood waiting for the L train I had just missed one, this lady walks up to me and asks does this train go to Canarsie I said yes. Then she says how much did you pay for your sneakers I said fifty she said do you have a job I said yes she said because most kids spend 175 dollars on sneakers and their parents are paying for them, when they get older and have to work they don't spend that much on sneakers.

I said yeah but I haven't spend that much on sneakers since I was younger she says oh but there nice though I said thank you. Then I heard the announcement for the next train arrival and I walked to the end of the platform hoping to avoid her because she looks like one of those people who liked to spark up conversations with strangers on the train and I really didn't feel like talking I just wanted to listen to some music and get home to get something to eat.

When I got to my seat she follows me into the same car and sits next to me I said to myself this is going to be a long ride. Then she starts talking about my earrings, where did you get those from I hope its not downtown Brooklyn I said yes. I guess she didn't catch my clue because I had my earphones in my ears and I was turning it up louder and louder. She said because they were selling 14k gold but it was really 10k and they were doing that since I was little. I said I wasn't planning on buying jewelry downtown anymore, then there was this weird silence for a while and finally it was my stop I got off and said what a weird ride.

Man Vs. Woman

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 | | 5 comments |

It was seven O'clock or so I'm heading home on the J Train. As the trains pulls in the station, every body exists and people began entering I sat down and started listening to my ipod and I began to watch other people entering the car.

Two woman entered the car they started walking towards the car door to exist to the other car but one of them steps on this man's feet he said "excuse me you just stepped on my feet" she said "oh I'm sorry" he said "alright shush move along" she says "well you don't have to dismiss me like that I said I'm sorry" he replied "I'll stomp you out" she said "yeah you probably could because you're a man try that with a man" he said "and I'll stomp him out too." Then her friend drags her and says "come on lets go" as she walks off she starts cussing.

I think that the whole situation could have been avoided if he had just accepted her apology and let it go. Why do adults act so childish sometimes?

Catching a Break

NEW SUBWAY RULES "It is a violation to move between end doors of a subway car whether or not train is in motion, except in an emergency or when directed by police officer or conductor"

I'm on the J -Train a passenger sits next to me it looks like he's just getting off from work because his clothes are all tainted with paint, maybe he's a carpenter or something. Then as the train starts to get overcrowded passengers start to exit to another car but there are police officers in the subway watching.

This one man goes through first and the police officers automatically tells the him to get off the train. We are all looking like whats going to happen then the door closes and about five other people goes through the car door. As the train pulls off I can see that the police officers let the man go but he was pissed off because they made him miss his train.

Pay Your Fare

Thursday, February 14, 2008 | | 4 comments |

Today yet again I saw another man getting arrested for fare evasion. He was surrounded by four police officers I couldn't even describe to you the embarrassment he felt as everyone entering the train station stared at him as the female police officer wrote him a ticket. Is it worth it two dollars vs. a twenty five to one hundred dollar ticket. Think about it. Anyone who has been caught trying not to pay for their subway ride knows how humiliating it can feel. Imagine what people are thinking about you as they pass by. Some might even point and laugh. Is the crime worth the humiliation? Signing out
